De wereldwijde cyberaanval op 2 juli 2021 vormde de inspiratie voor deze roman. De details daarvan heb ik in de verhaallijn verweven om te beschrijven hoe een farmaceutisch bedrijf in Rusland de informatie over een revolutionair geneesmiddel tegen Alzheimer’s stal. Deze roman is dus deels gebaseerd op een ware gebeurtenis.

Lucy Lassiter heeft het allemaal. Als dochter van Jacky en Bill Lassiter—eigenaren van een van ’s werelds machtigste farmaceutische imperiums is ze rijk, glamoureus en staat ze voortdurend in de schijnwerpers. Met een privéjet tot haar beschikking, een weelderig appartement in Manhattan en een schoonheid die hoofden doet omdraaien, is ze de lieveling van de roddelbladen en altijd omringd door bewonderaars.

Maar haar wereld stort in wanneer ze het pad kruist met Oliver Corbyn, een man gehuld in mysterie en gedreven door een gevaarlijke missie.
